Opening Ceremony featuring the "Parade of Athletes"
Free and open to the public
- Thursday, Feb. 2: Ceremony begins at 6 p.m. - Herb Brooks Arena, 1980 Olympic Center
Athletes who have received their jackets may arrive at the USA Rink in the Olympic Center (use the athlete entrance on Cummins Road) by 5:30 p.m. to line-up according to their sport. Athletes MUST have their ESWG jacket on to march in the Opening Ceremony! This year the parade of athletes will take place at the very beginning of the program, so athletes should arrive no later than 5:45 pm!
Parents, family, friends and spectators are invited and encouraged to attend for FREE — and don't forget to bring your cameras! There are some exciting segments planned for the ceremony this year!
For parents - make a plan for connecting with your athlete following the ceremony. If they have a phone, have them text their location (section number in the Olympic Center) to you. Ask them to stay in their section until you can connect after the ceremony is over. After you drop your athletes off at the USA rink prior to the ceremony, proceed to the stands and be seated. We provide a large contingent of adult volunteers in the USA rink to help organize the athletes pior to the event. Volunteers march in with them and also asist them to their seats and stay in the stands during the ceremony as chaperones.
